Your gemstone goblet is full!
For grown-ups: reading support
The first three places use two short statements per scroll. The Deep Wood, Moonbeam Plain and Palm Island add compound sentences: two main clauses joined by “and”, “but” or “so”. Read through the joining word before placing the full stop. Their word banks practise ee (sheep, feet, seed) and long oo (moon, pool, cool, boots), alongside familiar words and some sh, th and ck words. Most words use simple consonant–vowel–consonant patterns, with a few common endings and blends. Common words such as “the”, “a”, “I” and “is” may need support. These are not matched to a particular phonics programme. “Read to me” can help where browser speech is available.
Tap the space after a word to add a full stop. Solve both sentences in a scroll to earn one gem piece. The three scrolls in each place make one whole gemstone, which goes into the goblet. Found counts opened scrolls; solved counts completed messages. Reset this place restarts only the current place and removes its gemstone. Hints are free: ask for a clue, then ask to see the location if needed. Use the arrow keys or W, A, S and D while the play area is focused. Tap a scroll to travel to it. In Waterwheel Valley, solve a joining-word puzzle at each bridge, then find the full stops in its scroll. Three solved scrolls restore the watermill and earn Topaz. Bridges stay open while you revisit this place; resetting it clears its bridges and gemstone. Cloudtop Gardens adds because clauses through Balloon Post. Clockwork Canyon explores before, after and when in Time-Track Train. Frostfire Peaks mixes compound and complex sentences in Lantern Rescue. Commas are supplied; the task is to find full stops. Each new world has three optional starred discoveries: visit them for trail notes, an explorer seal and a faster ride. Scrolls and discoveries can be visited in any order. Resetting a place also resets its mini-games, discoveries and ride. In Bottle Bay, ride moving waves for a push and sail onto an island to walk. Faint sharks cruise below the surface. Nearby sharks follow slightly more slowly than your boat; a catch makes one leap out and holds your boat for 5 seconds, followed by a short safe recovery. Waves and sharks pause while reading. On the moon, steer a little rocket through the space gates. On Palm Island, walk under the beach shelter and archway, and behind palms. Catch the wandering monkey by getting close: he normally walks a little slower than you, but can dash for 3 seconds before resting between bursts. Once caught, he rides on your back and gives 1.5× speed for 20 seconds of play. Then he jumps off, runs away fast, and gradually slows down so you can catch him again. The countdown pauses while reading. Catching him is optional. Tab and Enter also work. The character and monkey stop while a scroll is open. Progress lasts for this visit.
